Mailchimp and Conduyt
Send newsletters from Mailchimp and sell from Conduyt without exporting lists. Pick a Conduyt smart list or tag and one Mailchimp audience, and Conduyt adds and updates those contacts in Mailchimp with their name and tags. New Mailchimp subscribers come back as Conduyt contacts, and when someone unsubscribes or their address bounces, Conduyt opts them out of email so your team stops emailing them too.
What makes it different
Choose who goes to Mailchimp
Pick one Conduyt smart list or one tag. Its contacts with an email address and email opt-in are added to your Mailchimp audience. Contacts who have opted out of email in Conduyt, or are marked do not contact, are never sent.
Added or updated, never duplicated
Mailchimp keys each member by email address. Conduyt adds the member or updates the existing one with first name, last name and Conduyt tags. Changes go out within about two minutes, and a first backfill runs in batches after you connect.
Subscribed or pending, your choice
New people are added to the audience as Subscribed, the default, or as Pending, in which case Mailchimp sends them a confirmation email first.
New subscribers come back
When someone subscribes to the audience in Mailchimp, for example through a Mailchimp signup form, Conduyt creates the contact or matches it by email address, with email opt-in on and a timeline entry. First and last name changes and email-address changes made in Mailchimp update the Conduyt contact too.
Unsubscribes and bounces come back
With the setting on (the default), an unsubscribe in Mailchimp opts the contact out of Conduyt email, which also stops their sequences, and an address Mailchimp cleans after a bounce is opted out the same way, with a timeline entry. Conduyt never opts anyone back in because of an unsubscribe or bounce.
What you need in place first
What moves, and which way
| Direction | What moves | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Conduyt to Mailchimp | Email address, first name, last name and tags, for contacts in the smart list or tag you chose who have email opt-in. | Contacts opted out of email or marked do not contact are never sent. Removing someone from the list or tag does not remove them from Mailchimp. |
| Mailchimp to Conduyt | New subscribers, first and last name changes, email-address changes, unsubscribes and cleaned (bounced) addresses. | Conduyt registers its own webhook on the audience when you connect, so changes usually land right away, and a status check every 15 minutes catches any unsubscribe or bounce the webhook missed. An email-address change is skipped when another Conduyt contact already uses that address. |
| Stored in Conduyt | The audience you chose, your settings and the Mailchimp access token. | Stored encrypted, as for every Conduyt integration. |

What it does not do
The details
Common questions
Does Conduyt integrate with Mailchimp?
Yes. Conduyt keeps one Mailchimp audience in step with a Conduyt smart list or tag, sending email, first name, last name and tags. New Mailchimp subscribers come back as Conduyt contacts, and unsubscribes and bounced addresses come back so those contacts are opted out of email in Conduyt.
Do people who sign up through Mailchimp appear in Conduyt?
Yes. Anyone who subscribes to the connected audience in Mailchimp is created as a Conduyt contact, or matched to an existing one by email address, with email opt-in on and a timeline entry. That includes people who never came from your smart list or tag.
If someone unsubscribes in Mailchimp, will Conduyt stop emailing them?
Yes. An unsubscribe in Mailchimp opts the contact out of Conduyt email, which also stops their sequences. It usually arrives right away through the webhook, and within 15 minutes at the latest through the status check.
Will contacts be duplicated in Mailchimp?
No. Mailchimp keys members by email address, and Conduyt adds or updates the member for that address.
Do I need Mailchimp if I use Conduyt?
Not to send email. Conduyt sends automated sequences and bulk email itself. The Mailchimp connection is for teams that already run newsletters in Mailchimp and want their CRM to stay in step.
What happens if I disconnect?
Both directions stop, Conduyt removes its webhook from the audience (the card shows Disconnecting until Mailchimp confirms) and the connection is deleted in Conduyt. Nothing is deleted, archived or unsubscribed in Mailchimp.
